 WHEN WE FIRST VISITED XR&D BOATBUILDERS WE SOON REALIZED WE NEED LOOK NO FURTHER. HERE WAS OUR BOAT. IT HAD THE TRADITIONAL LINES WE SO ADMIRED, THE JOSHUA BOW, SUNKEN PANELS -SCROLL WORK WAS SO APPEALING THEY REALLY HAVE GOT IT RIGHT. MY PARTNER ANJI AND I BOTH SET OUT WITH A IDEA IN MIND FOR A 60 FT TRADITIONAL TUG NARROWBOAT AND AFTER MANY ENQUIRIES WE CAME ACROSS LEE AND GARRY FROM XRANDD . ON MEETING WE BOTH WARMED TO THE LADS STRAIGHT AWAY THEY WERE BOTH VERY FRIENDLY AND HAD ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO LISTEN TO OUR PROPOSED DESIGN FOR OUR NEW SHELL. WE WERE VERY SPECIFIC IN WHAT WE WANTED AS WE HAD BUILT A 58FT NARROWBOAT PREVIOUSLY SO WERE NOT NOVICES TO BOATING. WHEN WE DISSCUSSED THE BUILD THEY WERE VERY POSITIVE AND SEEM TO RELISH THE IDEA OF BUILDING OUR TUG WHICH WE FOUND ENCOURAGING.AFTER VIEWING THE PLANS AT THE INITIAL MEETING THEY HAD LOTS OF IMPUT INTO THE DESIGN WHICH WAS ALSO HELPFUL. WE HAD QUITE A FEW QUOTES FROM OTHER BUILDERS BUT LEE & GARRY TICKED EVERY BOX INCLUDING THE FINAL PRICE WHICH WE THINK WAE EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY.THE BUILD WENT VERY WELL AND ON TIME AND THE FINNISHED SHELL WAS BETTER THAN WE COULD OF HOPED FOR.

IF YOUR THINKING OF HAVING A SHELL BUILT WHETHER IT BE A TRADITIONAL FULLY RIVETTED JOSHER BOW TUG STYLE NARROWBOAT OR A 40 FT CRUISER STERN I WOULD RECOMMEND LEE & GARRY AS YOUR FIRST PORT OF CALL AS THE WORD "NO" DOES NOT EXIST IN THEIR VOCABULARY. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THESE BOYS CAN HOLD THERE OWN WITH THE BEST SHELL BUILDERS IN THE COUNTRY IF YOU NEED ANY MORE PROOF OF THERE ABILITY JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THERE STEEL WORK AS IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. We would like to thank you both for the wonderfull shell you built for us and all the time and advice you gave whilst we were fitting her out . We now have a boat just as we wanted at a fraction of the price we would of paid for a bespoke boat .
You were a great help in the planning stage and if you thought some of our ideas were wrong you advised us , even if it cost you extra time and work , but in the end we ended up with a great boat which is attracting lots of good comments !!
Thanks once again and be reassured we will not hesitate in recommending you ! . . . We would also like to thank Murray and Josh for all they're hard work they put into our boat.

It is now many months ago when we first started searching for a boatbuilder & fitter . Believe me , we travelled many a mile , visited many a builder and shows , before we made our decision.
so how did we decide ? Honesty,Integrity and Quality !! . We found all this and more at X R&D . .
The decision was helped by the fact that they worked hand in hand with our chosen fitter . They compliment each other so well . Nothing is too much trouble .
Our boat was constructed in the latter months of 2010, we all know how mild the weather was !! Well the chaps continued often in conditions of -15 . . . Nothing daunted them , Result ! Yet again " a cracking shell"
So if you want a boatbuilder , whatever you desire , go to X R&D . . You will not be disappointed !! All the very best . .

Dear Lee and Garry ,
A note of thanks for all your help in the design & build of our new narrowboat . Special thanks to Lee for all is efforts in the last week of the build so that we could get her home before our looming deadline !
Its great to see at the bottom of the garden and we are looking forward to spending lots of time travelling the country ( eventually ) !
